EmPower aims to promote the dissemination and wider implementation of smart energy solutions available on the market, whose potential is not sufficiently exploited. It is therefore necessary that "secondary users" (engineering companies, installers, architecture) are the first ones to get to know these technologies so they can prescribe them and recommend their application, while explaining the relevant advantages over traditional energy solutions.

EmPower is aimed specifically at European SMEs suppliers of these solutions, which thanks to its commitment to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, have developed new techniques, innovative products or services whose guideline is to meet energy demand while respecting environmental parameters. These technologies also address the need for change in the pattern of energy consumption, so as to learn to consume less while maintaining our quality of life. International technology transfer among the leading companies in the energy sector is another of the main objectives of EmPower.

The project EmPower is one of the initiatives developed within the Intelligent Energy Programme (IEP 2007-2013), a tool that shows the EU’s strong commitment to promote the development of smart energy solutions as a means to modify the current energy model into a new model based on energy efficiency and the development of renewable sources. This model will make it possible to achieve the EU targets to combat climate change.
